Ganesh Chaturthi is round the corner. This also marks the onset of the festive season. Throughout the year we wait with bated breath to bring home the idol of ‘Bappa’. Lord Ganesh not only brings in wellness and fortune but also happiness for mirth. As much as people are becoming spiritual, the consciousness of striking a balance in nature is also increasing in them. Shunning idols made of Plaster of Paris or other harmful chemicals, people these days are rather opting for eco-friendly Ganesha made of environment-friendly materials ranging from mud to chocolate.

To promote the use of eco-friendly Ganesha, like every year a five-day training programme to prepare idols of Lord Ganesha is being organized from August 27 to 31 on the premises of Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation (EPCO). The training workshop is being conducted as a part of their Green Ganesha Campaign. The primary aim of the workshop is to create awareness among the people on the hazardous environmental effects of immersing the idols made of POP into different water bodies.

As a part of the workshop, EPCO in association with MP MyGov is also conducting a contest. Click selfies with your eco-friendly Ganesha and upload it on mp.mygov.in.
