Traffic Police, Madhya Pradesh, in association with MP MyGov, is urging people to share their thoughts on ways in which traffic safety measures can be improved in the state.

Accidents happen by chance and sometimes are unavoidable. However, little precautionary measures we take can help keep ourselves safe even in the face of accidents. For example, wearing a seat belt and a helmet might not reduce the chances of an accident but can certainly keep us safe if we meet one. The Traffic Department in the state is doing its duty to ensure the safety of people and improve traffic safety measures. However, we can see the change we expect only when we start acting. The traffic department alone cannot bring in a transformation if we do not undertake our duties as responsible citizens.

According to a newspaper report, Madhya Pradesh has the second highest accidental deaths in the country. A lot of these accidents and fatal deaths are caused by our carelessness. Breaking rules is a common tendency among humans. Often in a hurry, we do not mind flouting traffic signals, or over speeding our vehicles or even overtaking from the wrong side. Driving while speaking over the phone or riding two wheelers with headphones tucked into our ears playing loud music have become common traffic glitches these days. We are so inconsiderate about our own well being that we need to be fined to wear helmets for safety. We might not realize but such carelessness can jeopardize not only our lives but that of even other people on the streets.

To create awareness on such precautionary measures, Traffic Police, Madhya Pradesh is inviting your suggestions. Share yours at www.mp.mygov.in.

Being vigilant can save your life as well as that of your loved ones.
