Diwali symbolizes the desire to move towards the light from darkness…

Diwali is not a one-day festival, but a group of many festivals which is why it is also called the festive season, which we celebrate with colours of zest, enthusiasm, joy and lots of happiness. We also call it the 'Festival of Light' because it illuminates our lives with joy. This festival represents the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair.

Diwali brings a plethora of happiness and joy but today this festival has also become a symbol of the loud sound of firecrackers and harmful smoke. Diwali has now become one of the sources of sound and air pollution, harming not only us but the whole environment.

Under the "Green Diwali Healthy Diwali" campaign, you are requested to keep the COVID-19 epidemic in view; minimize air and noise pollution caused by firecrackers so that adverse effects on human health and other organisms can be minimized.

In this regard, the Environmental Planning and Coordination Organization (EPCO) is organizing a competition to celebrate the 'Pollution-Free Deepawali Utsav' this year and invites the citizens to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali for the environment.

1. Rangoli Competition (Class: Eco Club School - Students from class 6 to 12): Participants can send their selfie photograph with a rangoli created by them. Photograph size - up to 1 MB.

2. Photography Competition (Category: Eco Club College Students): Participants can send a photograph taken by them on the subject of "Green Diwali Healthy Diwali". Photograph size - up to 1 MB.

3. Short Video Competition (Category: Eco Club Teacher & Professor): Short videos can be sent for a maximum of 2 minutes keeping in mind the topic "Green Diwali Healthy Diwali".

Certificates with prize money of Rs.1000 / - will be awarded to 5 outstanding entries from each category. The photographs of the winning participants will also be displayed on the NGC website.

So how will you celebrate pollution-free Diwali this year without harming the environment? Set an example before society and make ‘Green Diwali’ meaningful!
