Bhopal is the first city in the country to introduce non-motorized transport in smart-city mission, where Smart Public Bike Sharing Scheme was first implemented. In the beginning of this scheme 50 bicycle stations and 500 smart cycles were provided in Bhopal.

Bicycles can be rented by paying by app, smart card, e-login-pin or mobile phone. Due to less rental and comfortable availability, this endeavor encourages cycling in the city. Cycling is providing the city dwellers with a pollution free environment, as well as health benefits.

The main purpose of writing this article is to provide a common platform to discuss the most challenging issues related to smart city, smart transport and the environment. Share your comments / suggestions about Smart City and its implementation.

Your suggestions are invited on the following points: -
1. Should there be more cycle stations in cities?
2. Which places in the city should have cycle tracks?
3. What appropriate measures can be taken to promote public bike sharing?

Most of the people can't use cycle during working hours due to time constraints, so the timing should match with their jogging time and the infrastructure like cycle track and stand should be at those places like Road towards Kaliyasot Dam and Kolar, Another places where BRTS Bus is not available like Shymala hills towards Museum. Last month's activity of 'Cyclegiri' was successful due to Sunday and Lake View Road which is a place of interest. Placing stand at VIP Road terminals is favourable.
