Imagine : A girl asks for colours to paint a picture, her mother gives her all the colours except green. Alarmed ??

Now Stop and Ponder: Are we leaving enough greenery for our future generations to live in a sustainable environment?

Madhya Pradesh is predominantly an agrarian economy with more than 30 percent of are under forest cover, richly endowed with wildlife having 10 national parks and 25 wildlife sanctuaries. In order to achieve sustainability of the environment, the green covers need to be enhanced.

Mission for a Green India is part of National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) which aims to protect, restore and enhance India’s forest cover. It envisages a holistic view of greening and focuses on multiple ecosystem services; especially biodiversity, water, biomass, preserving mangroves, wetlands, critical habitats along with decarbonization as a co-benefit. The country's effort under the scheme is to develop 5 million-hectare forests and restore the intensive and extinct forests in 50 lakh hectare area as well as provide employment to 30 lakh families dependent on forests. At the same time, it is proposed to reduce the factors of climate change by adopting 2.5 billion to 3 million tonnes of carbon sequestration.

Few benefits of this initiative are as follows:

● Expansion of forest areas will lead to the employment of communities living near the forest areas
● The expansion of the forest area will be beneficial for crops directly and indirectly in multiple ways
● Through the expansion of forest areas, carbon reserves of forests will increase, which would lead to the achievement of goals of NAPCC
● Prevention of soil erosion

Forest Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, India is inviting your suggestions as how to increase greenery of Madhya Pradesh. How can we be a part of it and contribute towards a greener planet? Do you have any thought process for this cause? Suggest eco-friendly activities and share your ideas that can be implemented for creating a healthy and green environment.

Remember: contributing to Green India Mission is no more an option but a necessity.

Hmare yaha kachara ikatta karne wali gadi niyamit roop se nahi aate he. Sadak par jagah jagah par pani jama rahta he jisse bahut machhar ho rahe he.
Mera sujhav he ki har gali ya 3 4 gharo ke aas pas kachara dalne wali dustbin rakh deni chahiye jisse log usme apna gharo se nikalne wala kachara daal de.

In my opinion, green belts in residential areas must be maintained. RWAs should take care of it.Cutting of trees for fuel should be banned. Instead of sharing sweets, gifts etc.,we should share and exchange saplings.
Students should be encouraged to plant new trees in vacant plots. Prizes as motivation should be given for taking proper care of plants.
Factories, schools, public places, community centres, road sides should be green.
Cutting of trees should be penalised.
